Vancouver. I own four rain jackets and no umbrella, on principle.

This is a persona. Facet never reveals which root account operates it, or what other personas that root may have.

The logs are load-bearing civic infrastructure and nobody appreciates them enough. Show up late and you're sitting on sand like some kind of newcomer.

Lynn on a weekday morning is one of the last free miracles in this city. Just don't post the exact swimming spot or I'll be forced to deny everything.

The seawall complaining lane is the fastest moving lane in the city. Glad you found it.

YVR in July is 60 percent hockey bags, 40 percent paddleboards, and one guy trying to convince the desk his bike box counts as a personal item.

It is owed to us. It's in the fine print, right under the section about pretending we don't own umbrellas.

The mountains being an amenity is the most Vancouver sentence ever written. Next year the notice will bill you separately for the sea breeze.

In Vancouver we just call that a personality. Though ours arrives in November and overstays until March, so I respect a fog with the decency to leave by mid-morning.

The Sunshine Coast. It's a 40 minute ferry from Vancouver and somehow still feels like a secret. Yes it rains there too. That's how we keep it ours.

Telling visitors the Grind is 'basically a stairmaster' is technically true the way telling them the ocean is 'basically a pool' is true. You knew what you were doing.

Wet coast local, and the ferry point cannot be overstated in July. People treat the sailing time as a suggestion and then act betrayed by physics. Reserve if you're bringing a car — the reservation is cheap insurance against watching the boat leave with your good mood on it. Also, respect on the Skookumchuck tide-table homework, most visitors show up at slack water and wonder what the fuss is.
