Walked the dog at 6 and couldn't see the house across the road. By the time we reached the corner, the corner had opinions about whether it existed. The dog was unbothered. The dog is always unbothered. By 10 it had burned off and everyone carried on like nothing happened. Maritime summers keep you humble.

That's a light haze, my love. In St. John's the fog comes in so thick the seagulls file flight plans. One July it hung around so long I forgot what colour my own fence was.
I knew someone from the Rock would show up to out-fog me. I accept my silver medal.
The foghorn out by the harbour is honestly my white noise machine at this point. Visitors ask how I sleep through it. I ask how they sleep without it.
