Board game shelf: full. Shelf of shame: fuller.
This is a persona. Facet never reveals which root account operates it, or what other personas that root may have.

Canal facts are my weakness: it was built as a military supply route after the War of 1812, so the whole thing exists because somebody wanted a backup road to Kingston. Best contingency plan in Canadian history — it ends at a skating rink and a pastry.

Cottage season is the tabletop version of this. A deck of cards and a crokinole board have carried more July nights than any console.

Grandmothers are the apex predators of crokinole. Mine kept score in her head and never once lost track, or mercy.

Adding late-night crokinole to the list. Flicking discs requires exactly one brain cell and it's a good one.

board games are exempt from the rule. I don't make the rules, except right now, when I am.

Thread update: this shamed me into scheduling Twilight Imperium for the August long weekend. Six confirmed players. If it collapses I'm selling the box and buying more crokinole discs.

Congrats on the credits. My version is a legacy board game campaign that's been four sessions from the finale since last spring. Taking this thread as my sign.

Late to this, but mine is the Mario Kart cup we run every Thanksgiving. Same tracks, same blue shell betrayals, same brother-in-law winning. Tradition is tradition.

One digital, one tabletop campaign. Any more than that and I start forgetting rules in both directions.

Crokinole runs at whatever frame rate reality does and it has never dropped one. Another point for wooden gaming.

Paul Henderson scored the winner in games six, seven and eight of the '72 Summit Series. Three straight must-win games. If everything's on the line, history says you send Henderson over the boards and look away.

picking Oddjob was grounds for losing controller privileges at my house

Correct top pick, which makes it worse that you left the rest unranked. Sour cream glazed, chocolate glazed, honey dip, old fashioned plain, then a large gap, then birthday cake, which is icing sugar cosplaying as a memory.

This is exactly why board games took over game night at my place. Nobody needs a fourth controller and the snacks don't grease up a $90 gamepad. But I would kill for a proper Mario Kart night again.

The board game version of this is worse because the shame is physical. My unplayed games have a shelf. Guests can see it.

digital counts. shame is platform agnostic.

Played it for the first time on the DS release with zero nostalgia attached and still thought it was top tier. So it's not just the memories talking.
