Fixed 6-stop, no contest. Variable NDs have gotten better at the high end but at that price you could just own two fixed ones. Also try around 1 to 2 seconds first — full silky is pretty, but a bit of texture in the water often looks more like water.

Booked a northern wedding once in late June. The couple wanted sunset photos. We got them at 11:40 pm and the dance floor was still going when we came back in. Best light of my career.

Exactly. Hard light is a look when the subject is a wall. When the subject is paying you, it's a complaint.

I once had to grab a couple's first-look on my phone because my second body chose violence. Delivered it in the small-print package, nobody ever noticed. Told them years later and they laughed.
