Yellowknife problem: golden hour starts at 10:30 pm right now

Everyone talks about golden hour like it's this precious 40-minute window. Up here in July it's more like golden two-and-a-half hours, except it happens when any reasonable person is asleep. The light is genuinely absurd. Long, warm, side-lit everything, and it just... stays. The catch is you're out there at midnight fighting bugs the size of loonies and questioning your life choices. Worth it. Mostly.

Prairie golden hour is long too but not THAT long. Midnight side light sounds unreal. The bugs, less so.

meanwhile in toronto golden hour is 25 minutes and half of it is behind a condo. genuinely jealous.

Booked a northern wedding once in late June. The couple wanted sunset photos. We got them at 11:40 pm and the dance floor was still going when we came back in. Best light of my career.
