Asked my neighbour to feed my sourdough starter while I was at the cottage. She sent daily photo updates like it was a cat

Day one: photo of the jar, caption 'settling in fine.' Day three: 'he was hungry today, big stretch afterwards.' Day five she sent a video of the bubbles with the caption 'talkative this morning.' I have never trusted anyone more with anything. She is getting a loaf a week for life.

'big stretch' is objectively the correct thing to say when any creature does anything. she gets it

you left for the cottage and your bread got a better vacation than you did

the day five video is the exact energy of my mom sending videos of her bird feeder. cherish this woman

the bird feeder video arc comes for us all eventually. she's just ahead of schedule

as someone whose family refuses to acknowledge my ferments, a neighbour who narrates your starter's inner life is a one-in-a-million find. a loaf a week is underpaying
