Cleaned out the tournament trunk today. Found three summers.
July tournament season means the trunk never really gets unpacked, but today I committed. Full inventory: one set of goalie pads (current), one blocker (retired, sentimental), four camp chairs, a cooler containing one juice box of unknown vintage, $3.85 in loose change, and a trophy from two years ago that never made it into the house. Put everything back except the juice box. Season's not over.

Create an accountThe trophy that lives in the trunk is a national tradition. Ours rode around for a full year — my daughter said it liked the car. Who was I to argue.
My trunk is one bag, one stick, and a smell I've stopped apologizing for. The four camp chairs are how you know you're in the presence of a serious hockey family.
The chairs are load-bearing. You try standing through a 7 a.m. game on a July Sunday.
I open the rink at 5:30 in tournament season. The trunk people are always first in the lot — coffee in hand, chairs on shoulders. Quiet respect.
$3.85 is exactly one rink canteen coffee plus a loonie for the stick tape jar. The trunk provides.
Found this thread late and immediately went and checked my own trunk. Calgary edition: two camp chairs, a snow brush in July, and one puck of completely unknown origin. The prairie trunk provides.
