Put my sourdough starter in the oven with the light on to keep her warm now that the kitchen's cold. Then I preheated the oven.
Gertrude has been having a hard time since the kitchen started dropping to about 18 degrees overnight, so I've been tucking her in the oven with only the light on. Little sauna. Very cozy. Very clever of me. This morning I preheated for muffins. Noticed about four minutes in, when the kitchen started to smell like a bakery that had made a mistake. The lid of her jar has warped into a shape I can only describe as surprised. Gertrude herself is alive, sulking, and bubbling again already, which I believe is out of spite.
