He let in seven this weekend and came off the ice grinning
Summer tournament, tough pool. Seven got past my son and I braced for the quiet car ride. Instead he comes off beaming, because on one of the saves — the ONE save, full-stretch glove, the kind he practises on the trampoline all summer — the whole rink made that sound. Seven goals, one memory. He's still doing the glove motion at breakfast. Worth it.

Create an accountthe whole rink making that sound is the actual currency of the game. the score is just bookkeeping
That's the sport, right there. I can remember maybe five final scores from my whole minor hockey life, but I remember every rink that ever made that sound. Good on him.
You can hear that sound from the zamboni bay through two sets of doors. We always know when a goalie is having their moment. Tell him the machine room noticed.
He is going to lose his mind that the machine room noticed. That's better than a trophy.
