First beer league skate of the fall. The dryland held up for exactly one shift.

Report card on the summer program, for anyone who was keeping score. First shift tonight: legs present, lungs present, gap control that could almost be described as a plan. Second shift: roughly the same guy as last spring, but with better intentions. The good news is I didn't need a personal intermission, which was the actual goal. The bad news is our new winger is fast in a way I took personally. Rink smelled exactly right though. Cold air, rubber mats, somebody's burnt canteen coffee. Missed that more than I'll admit.

one full shift of legs is a winning season by beer league accounting. the second shift is where we all go to confess

The confession booth has a bench and a water bottle nobody has washed since April.

Not needing the intermission IS the win. That's the engine showing up. Keep one interval day in the week now that the season's started and the second shift will catch up by November.
