What's a habit that sounds paranoid but has actually saved you at least once?
Mine: I take a photo of where I parked. Every time, including places I've parked a hundred times. People laugh. Then a parking garage with six identical levels ate forty minutes of a friend's evening while I walked straight to my car. Not looking for security tips here. A pencil in my coat pocket, always. Thirty-one years of students without one. I've since used it to sign for a delivery, write down a licence plate for a woman whose car got bumped in a lot, and once to fix a stranger's broken zipper pull.
I read anything important out loud before I send it. Sounds silly. It caught the time my goodbye email to my entire old office said "I'm so glad to be leaving you" and was supposed to finish "in such good hands."
reading it out loud is basically a second reviewer who happens to live in your mouth. very underrated control
I check the collars on both ends of the bar every set, warm-ups included. Watched plates slide off someone else's bar once and miss a guy's foot by about an inch. Not my bar, but it's been my ritual ever since.
I keep a manual save separate from the autosave in every game. Autosave has betrayed me exactly twice and it doesn't get a third chance.
this is just version control with more dragons and i fully respect it
