Read back through five years of one-line training notes. Every September says the same thing.
I've written one line after every session for about five years. This week I went back and read only the Septembers. Every single year: 'Felt amazing.' 'Added weight.' 'Could have done more.' And every single November: 'Tired.' 'Elbows cranky.' 'Skipped, no energy.' Five years running I came back from summer feeling great, piled on too much too fast because it felt easy, and paid for it before the snow. So this year September me gets a speed limit. Small jumps only, even when the bar feels light. Especially when the bar feels light. I don't trust a great month anymore. I trust a boring one. If you don't keep notes, start. Your past self is the only coach who's watched every session.
