Gym at 6, pancakes at 7: a defence of the deeply boring routine

People hear my schedule and say it sounds like a punishment. Same wake up, same warm up, same handful of lifts on the same days, same protein pancakes after. Where's the variety, where's the spice. The secret is that the routine removed every decision. I don't negotiate with the alarm, don't choose exercises, don't wonder what breakfast is. Zero decisions before 7am means zero opportunities to lose an argument with myself. The variety happens in the rest of my life, which the boring routine quietly pays for. Three years of this and the boring routine is the most interesting thing that ever happened to my health.

Zero opportunities to lose an argument with yourself is the entire game. Every skipped workout in my life was lost in a negotiation I never should have opened.

The decision-free morning is real. My running clothes go beside the bed the night before so 6am me, who cannot be trusted with choices, just has to put on the pile.

The pile method! Mine's on the dresser in gym-order. 6am me is basically a fireman responding to a very slow emergency.

Three years same routine and still going says everything. Show me a spicy varied program with a three-year streak. I'll wait.
