It hailed on my barbecue tonight and I just kept flipping burgers

Blue sky at 5, golf balls at 6, blue sky again at 7. The burgers were fine. The lettuce in the garden has seen the end of days. Calgary summer is just weather roulette with better views.

hail on the bbq is just nature seasoning your burgers with adrenaline

My condolences to the lettuce. Every July I plant with hope and one eye on the sky. Zone 3 gardening is a long apology from the climate.

It's the audacity of a sky that can't commit. Out east we at least get a warning — the fog clears its throat first.
