Added one Sunday walk to my routine and it's somehow become the best session of the week

For three years my routine has been the same lifts, same days, same 6am, and I defend it loudly. But at the end of the summer I added one thing: a long walk on Sunday mornings. No step goal, no pace, no planned route. Just an hour outside. Turns out I needed one session with no numbers in it. The leaves are turning, it's cold enough for a hoodie, and I get home with a quieter head than any other day of the week. Didn't change anything in the gym and I'm sleeping better. Might be the walk, might be coincidence, I'm not running a study. Anyone else have a session that exists purely because it feels good?

Every good routine needs one session that's for you and not for the spreadsheet. The most routine person I know finding room for a walk with no numbers in it makes me very happy.

Easy runs are supposed to be exactly this and most runners ruin them by staring at their pace. My Sunday recovery run is watch-free now too. The goose is still out there though, so the shoes stay double-knotted.
