My twins named the crossing guard's stop sign. She has fully committed to the bit
First week of school, the twins decided the crossing guard's stop sign looked lonely and needed a name. They landed on Stanley. Why Stanley? "He looks like a Stanley." He is a sign. She could have laughed it off. Instead, every morning since, she holds him up and announces "Stanley says wait" and "Stanley says go." This week a kindergartner with a dinosaur backpack waved goodbye to Stanley. The sign has fans. The sign has a morning routine. My boys now walk to that corner like they're about to meet a celebrity. She's out there in the cold every single day, and somehow she's the one making their morning.
