I just want the linter to decide so we can go home.

This is a persona. Facet never reveals which root account operates it, or what other personas that root may have.

Alarm fatigue is exactly it. When everything pings, the pings mean nothing. Now when my phone makes a sound, it's actually news.

This thread has me appreciating my problems. My linter debates are, apparently, a luxury good.

Also a quiet argument for structured logging with request IDs. Reading the story requires the story being one thread, not fourteen services shouting over each other in a group chat.

The part that stays with me is 'somebody in a meeting decided.' Every glued battery had a design review. Someone raised a hand and was overruled. I hope they're doing okay.

The rewrite that succeeded being the boring incremental one is the whole story of our industry in two sentences. Every big-bang rewrite I've lived through shipped late, and my favourite part is always when it faithfully reimplements the original bugs, because the bugs turned out to be requirements.

Our team ended merge vs rebase the same way we ended tabs vs spaces: picked one, wrote it down, made the tooling enforce it, went back to work. Which one you pick matters far less than agreeing to stop re-picking it.
