I love when one book opens a door to the next. Here's the game — reply with a pairing. A book you loved, and the book you'd hand someone right after, and why they belong together. I'll start. Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, then Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. Both are about art and stories surviving the collapse and reassembly of the world, and both trust you to hold a lot of threads at once until they braid.

One's a novel, one's essays, but read together they completely change how you see the tree outside your window. Powers gives you the awe, Kimmerer gives you the relationship.
