As a birder with an indoor cat, I live a life of divided loyalties. Solution: a suction-cup feeder on the outside of the window and a padded shelf on the inside. Wild birds stay safely outside, cat gets premium programming. It has been two weeks and the cat now commutes to the shelf at dawn like it's a job. She chirps at the sparrows. She files complaints when the feeder is empty. I have somehow ended up serving two sets of demanding birds-adjacent clients and one of them pays rent in nothing.
