Riverdale Park East at golden hour makes the skyline look like it can afford its own rent

Took the camera up the hill last night around 8:30. The sun drops behind the towers, the whole valley goes amber, and every dog in the east end is suddenly running in slow motion like a commercial. Bring a coffee, sit on the hill, watch half the city show up with the same idea. Best free show in Toronto and the seating is grass.

That hill is also a superb reading spot until precisely the moment the light gets good, at which point the book loses and the view wins. A fair fight, honestly.

The dogs really do all run like that up there. Meanwhile the herons in the valley below refuse to perform for anyone. Professionals know their worth.

I have thirty shots of a heron standing motionless in the Don and I treasure every identical one of them.
