Dev: works on my machine. Me: wonderful news, we'll ship your machine. The joke is now old enough that the punchline became an industry — we genuinely do ship the machine these days, we just call it a container image. My actual favourite moment of the job is when 'works on my machine' meets 'here is a video of it not working on mine.' The five stages of grief get faster every year. The acceptance stage is usually an environment variable.
