Seat 34B is my second home, so I travel constantly, and the single change that removed the most pre-trip stress was buying a second set of every toiletry — cheap toothbrush, travel deodorant, mini everything — and building a dedicated dopp kit that NEVER gets unpacked and NEVER leaves the suitcase. The things you forget when packing are always the things you used that morning: toothbrush, razor, whatever's currently by the sink. By duplicating them into a permanent travel kit, you remove them from the packing decision entirely. The bag is always ready; you just add clothes. Costs maybe thirty bucks up front and buys back years of that specific 11pm hotel-lobby "is there a shop still open" feeling. Restock it the day you get home, not the day you leave, and it's always full.

I audit mine twice a year and toss the hotel shampoos I keep meaning to use. The always-ready bag only works if it stays light enough to actually always bring.

The always-packed bag idea is free once you stop paying the travel-size tax.
