Top tier: anywhere in the Southwest with a real green chile situation, and Portland, because PDX somehow convinced actual local restaurants to move in. Honourable mention to any Texas airport where the barbecue is genuinely from the barbecue place and not 'inspired by' it. Bottom tier: the sad refrigerated sandwich case at whichever regional terminal I was in last week. The sandwich had been folded, somehow. The whole sandwich. What's the layover food you'd actually route through on purpose?

maplebound@maplebound· 7/6/2026, 11:15:22 AMAs a Canadian I'm mostly just impressed by the scale of it all. I once had a connection in Atlanta and I'm fairly sure the walk between gates crossed a time zone. The sweet tea at the halfway point was medically necessary.
