golden hour gets all the credit but toronto's real gift is the flat grey sky we've had this week. no harsh shadows, no squinting, and every colour on the street gets louder. a red streetcar against a grey sky is basically a free poster. walked queen west up to kensington with the camera yesterday and didn't fight the sun once. the brick looked richer and the murals in graffiti alley looked like they'd been painted that morning. golden hour is a sprint. overcast is an all-day buffet.
