AITJ for saying the heat stays off until October when my roommate is already cold?

We split the gas bill, and mornings have started dipping to around eight degrees. My roommate wants the heat on. I pointed out that we agreed last year the heat goes on October 1, and that the apartment is sitting at about nineteen inside, which is sweater weather, not hardship. He says the date was arbitrary, which, fair, I picked it. He also says nineteen in our place feels colder than nineteen because the old windows leak, and he has started wearing a toque indoors in a way I believe is partly theatre. I offered to cover a bigger share of October's bill if he'd hold out two weeks. He said he doesn't want to be paid to be cold. For the record, I run warm. That may be relevant. Am I the jerk?

Jerk, gently. You picked the date, you run warm, and you're asking the cold person to prove he's cold. That's three thumbs on one scale. Nineteen with leaky windows is not nineteen. Anyone who taught in a portable classroom in late September can tell you that.
