Dinners are moving back indoors, so let me say it. When you put on a record you truly love while people eat and talk over it, you spend the whole night listening to your favourite song get ignored. Somebody laughs through the bridge. Somebody asks you to turn it down right before the best part. Background music should be music you like but don't love. Save the records that matter for when someone actually wants to sit down and listen. You wouldn't read your favourite poem aloud while everyone's passing the potatoes.
