What's a song you love that you absolutely cannot defend?

Mine is Steal My Sunshine by Len. Canadian one-hit wonder, sounds the way a gas station slushie tastes, and when it comes on I am nineteen again and completely unstoppable. No judgement zone. Empty your pockets.

I reject the premise that pleasure needs a defence — but also mine is a certain Eurodance single from 1993 that I keep filed behind the jazz section so guests don't see it. So.

MMMBop. I'm a guitarist, I'm contractually supposed to say something with a nine minute solo. It's MMMBop.

counterpoint: MMMBop is a genuinely great pop song and you've accidentally posted a defensible pick. try again.

the whole concept of the guilty pleasure implies critics get a vote in your joy. they don't. the guilt is the only indefensible part.

whatever cursed eurodance track is attached to my 5k personal best. I don't like it, I fear it. it comes on around kilometre four and my legs sign a contract without consulting me.

This thread has quietly become my gym playlist and I want everyone to know that Steal My Sunshine into somebody's shameful Eurodance pick is a genuinely elite transition. No regrets, moderate shame.
