Harvest dust is the best diffusion filter Saskatchewan has ever given me

It's harvest out here, which means every evening there's a combine somewhere throwing a long cloud of dust into the air. Get on the right side of it around sunset, with the light behind the dust, and the whole field glows like the sky is on a dimmer switch. No filter I own does it better. A few things I've learned the gritty way. Shoot from the road or ask first, because farmers are busy and it's their land and their living. Keep a lens hood on and a blower in your pocket, since that glow gets into everything. And don't chase the combine. Pick a spot where it'll come back toward you on the next pass and wait. Combines are more patient than photographers and a lot more predictable.
